  • I want the freshest seafood around! How do I place an order?

It’s as easy as casting a line! 🎣 Simply browse our selection and add the freshest seafood around to your cart. Choose your preferred curbside pickup date and time (just give us two days to ensure we have the absolute best ready for you), then head to checkout. We’ll handle the rest—from dock to doorstep, almost.

  • What is your order cut off time?

Orders must be placed by 12 AM (midnight) to be eligible for pickup starting the day after next. This allows us time to secure the freshest product and ensure your order is packed and ready when you arrive.

  • How often is your inventory updated?

Daily! We refresh our shop each day with the freshest shellfish from across coast to coast. Orders placed before 12 AM are eligible for pickup starting the day after next. This lead time ensures that everything listed on our site is truly available—so once you place an order, you can count on it being fulfilled exactly as expected.

  • Can I modify or cancel my order after placing it?

We get it—plans change. If you need to modify or cancel your order, please email us at info@fishermenselect.ca or text (778) 909-6659 as soon as possible. We’ll do our best to accommodate your request, depending on where your order is in the fulfillment process.

  • Where do I pick up my order, and how does it work?

Pickups take place at our Burnaby, BC warehouse located at 3726 Parker Street. When you arrive, simply pull up curbside and text us at (778) 909-6659 with your order number (you’ll find it in your confirmation email). We’ll bring your seafood out to you as soon as possible—no need to get out of your car!

  • How is my seafood packaged for pickup?

Your order will be packed in a sturdy paper bag—similar to what you'd receive at your local grocery store. At this time, we don’t provide cooling or ice packs, so if you’re traveling a long distance, we recommend bringing your own cooler or ice packs to keep your seafood fresh on the way home.

  • Do you only sell Canadian seafood products?

Yes—every single product we offer is proudly Canadian. We source from coast to coast, offering a mix of wild-caught and responsibly farmed seafood from trusted Canadian fishers, harvesters, and aquaculture producers. When you buy from us, you're supporting Canadian waters, Canadian jobs, and Canadian quality.

  • Is your seafood sustainably sourced?

It is. We work directly with Canadian fishers and aquaculture partners who prioritize sustainable practices, responsible harvesting, and long-term ocean health. Whether wild-caught or farmed, every product we sell meets our high standards for traceability, quality, and care for the environment.

  • Will you be adding new or more products to your inventory?

Absolutely! We’re always updating our inventory and working with new Canadian suppliers to bring you even more of the best seafood our coasts have to offer. Our selection changes with the seasons and the catch—so check back often to see what’s fresh and new!

  • How do I properly store and handle fresh shellfish?

Treat it like the delicacy it is! Once you pick up your order, keep it cold—ideally between 1–4°C. If you're not heading straight home, bring a cooler or ice pack (we don't provide cooling). At home, pop your shellfish in the fridge in an open container, covered with a damp cloth and ice on top—just be sure to drain any melted water. Don’t store them in sealed plastic bags or fresh water—they need to breathe! Most shellfish will stay fresh for up to 4–5 days if stored properly. And if you ever catch a whiff of anything funky or see open or broken shells, it’s best to play it safe and toss them.

Quick tip: If a shell is open, gently tap it or press it closed. If it stays shut, it’s alive and good to go. If it stays open—it’s time to toss it.

Once cooked, seafood should be stored in the fridge and enjoyed within 2 to 3 days for the best taste and safety. Keep it in a sealed container and make sure your fridge is cold (below 4°C). If you’re not planning to eat it right away, cooked seafood also freezes well—just wrap it tightly and use it within a couple of months for top quality.

  • How long should I cook lobster, crab, clams, or mussels?

Here’s a quick guide to get it just right:

    • Lobster: Boil for 8–12 minutes depending on size (about 8 minutes for the first pound, 3 minutes for each additional pound).

    • Crab: Boil or steam for 12–15 minutes until the shell turns bright red and the meat is hot all the way through.

    • Clams & Mussels: Steam or boil for 7–10 minutes, just until the shells open. Once they do, give them another 2–3 minutes to fully cook. Discard any that don’t open.

Pro tip: Don’t overcook—shellfish is ready when it’s opaque, plump, and juicy!
